Love. Trust. Selflessness. Meet the Browns.
Randy and I met at a professional conference in Baltimore, where both he and I were working for our respective institutions. He resided in Atlanta and I in North Carolina at the time, but after a short interaction after a professional social we hit it off. 7 months of courting went by and before I knew it Randy had asked for my hand in marriage. We married the following summer in a small intimate ceremony with just our immediate family members. We are now 3 years in on this marriage journey to forever with a beautiful 10 month old son and are more in love now than on the first day we said we loved one another.
One of the most important pieces of advice that remains at the foundation of our marriage and relationship we have with each other as not only partners but also friends is CONSISTENCY. We are constantly reminded of the other partner as we continue to CONSISTENTLY show LOVE, TRUST and SELFLESSNESS to one another. When you think about what a person consistently does, you gain insight into where their priorities are and how they are defined. This little moment of self reflection for the both of us allows us to keep the other partner in the forefront of our daily interactions in everything we do. I've heard a lot of love stories over the years, but I have to say, OURS is my favorite!
On "why is marriage relevant in 2015?"
For us the relevance for marriage in 2015 is grounded in the spiritual necessity for the example of Christ's love to be shown through us as husband and wife. The institution of marriage for us is so sacred and special and meets the need for stability, long-lasting loving relationships and the growth ans success of the family.
Can we get an "Amen"?! Thank you for submitting your love story Randy and Taryrn! You are a refreshing example of Young, Black Love.
Until next time....
